Salma Hayek's major Hollywood breakthrough came from Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. She rose to prominence with Frida, a film which was nominated to win the Academy Award. Salma Hayek Jimenez, daughter of Spanish and Lebanese parents was born in Mexico on the 2nd of September 1996 at Coatzacoalcos. Hayek, who was born into a Catholic household, was a member of the Louisiana's Convent at age 12 young and then spent her teen days living in Houston, Texas with her Aunt. Her career in acting began shortly after she graduated from Mexico City school. Eventually, Hayek became the main character in Mexico's telenovelas.
